Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said he intends to meet with Ghislaine Maxwell, the imprisoned madam of disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Mr. Blanche announced on social media that the Justice Department is reaching out to Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, “to ask, what do you know” about Epstein’s alleged list of influential and wealthy men with whom he may have provided underage girls.
Mr. Blanche’s announcement follows continued pressure from the MAGA base to release more information about Epstein, who was found dead in a New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
“I’ve contacted her counsel,” Mr. Blanche said. “I intend to meet with her soon. No one is above the law — and no lead is off limits.”
Maxwell’s lawyer, David Oscar Markus, told The Washington Times he’s received the request.
“I can confirm that we are in discussions with the government and that Ghislaine will always testify truthfully. We are grateful to President Trump for his commitment to uncovering the truth in this case,” he said.
Some in the MAGA base have been in an uproar since the Justice Department announced no “client list” from Epstein exists. Democrats claim President Trump, a former Epstein friend, is covering up information that could incriminate him by concealing the alleged list. Mr. Trump’s fans believe the list has been suppressed to protect other influential and wealthy individuals.
Documents made public from a civil trial revealed the names of some of the rich and powerful people who flew on Epstein’s private jet. Among them are former President Bill Clinton, tech billionaire and philanthropist Bill Gates and rock star Mick Jagger. Mr. Trump was logged on seven flights in the 1990s, and some of them included his then-wife, Marla Maples, and their daughter.
Mr. Trump has called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to release any evidence that is “credible” but has grown impatient with the daily questions about the case.
Ms. Bondi said Tuesday that she stands by the determination that the evidence the FBI sifted through did not produce information that could lead to investigations of “third parties,” in the case.
The Justice Department isn’t done investigating, she said, and will try to question Maxwell, who is serving time in a minimum security prison in Tallahassee, Florida.
“President Trump has told us to release all credible evidence. If Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say.”
